Meet Liesel

Liesel Lund is an artist who loves to teach and share her passion for art and the creative process. These days you can find her in her Whidbey Island studio, spoiling her kitties and drinking large cups of tea while she works with watercolor, pastels, acrylics, oils, jewelry, art journals, tin and textiles. She is a featured artist inCloth, Paper, Scissors Feb. 2015, Creative Wildfire by LK Ludwig, Cloth, Paper, Scissors-Studios Spring 2010, and Drawing Lab for Mixed Media Artists by Carla Sonheim.

A third generation artist, Liesel follows in the creative footsteps of her grandmother, a ceramic bead and fiber artist, and her mother, a traditional quilter and author. Liesel studied drawing, painting, photography and scientific illustration at The Evergreen State College, The University of Washington, The School of Visual Concepts and Gage Academy of Art.Over the years she has worn many creative hats in her career. As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand she created a nature education center at a Doi Luang National Park. Later she designed graphics for Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo's Butterflies and Blooms exhibit, children’s books for McGraw-Hill, and textile prints for Tommy Bahama's tropically inspired clothing.Since 2009, she has been teaching art workshops at her studio in Seattle and has taught locally at Daniel Smith Art Store, Oil and Water Arts, and Letters of Joy. She has also taught at national art retreats including: Artfest, Art is You, CREATE, Journalfest, and Handmade U."I believe that we are all artists and that making art adds an invaluable richness to our lives. I love sharing my passion for art with people and giving them the knowledge, techniques, and encouragement to express their own unique creative style.
Being creative is a joyous counterbalance to life's stresses. Give yourself the freedom to create, play, and fall in love with the colors, textures and images that you enjoy. What greater gift for yourself than to do something that makes you happy?
